Anxiety

Anxiety is a word we are all familiar with these days. You may find yourself becoming distracted more easily or getting irritated by things that didn't bother you before. Maybe your appetite has decreased or you are having problems sleeping that are new to you. Some may notice their hearts racing, having hot flashes, or sweating all of a sudden. Other people just feel that they are stuck under a feeling of impending doom, like something bad is going to happen, without any real explanation.

If any of this sounds familiar, you may be feeling some symptoms of anxiety.

In the past few years, all of us have had plenty of reasons to feel stressed out. Nothing feels certain and everything feels like it could change from moment to moment. Some of us have been able to adapt with apparent ease. Some of us, however, are having a harder time finding our way out from under these feelings.

Working with a therapist to gain insight as to when these feelings started, how they persist, and how to overcome them will give you a new perspective on your life. Learning why you felt anxious to begin with is the first step in conquering anxiety from taking you down in the future.
